CNMC representatives meet with DR Congo President Felix Tshisekedi

Chen Zhimin and Shao Shengjun, chairman and president, respectively, of China Nonferrous Mining Hong Kong Holdings Ltd. (CNMHK), paid a visit to Felix Tshisekedi, President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), on Nov. 19, 2024 local time.

CNMHK is a DRC-based holding subsidiary of China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. (CNMC).

The visit, conducted on behalf of Wen Gang, Chairman of CNMC, took place during Tshisekedi's inspection tour in the city of Lubumbashi, DRC.

During their meeting, the two sides held in-depth discussions and reached broad consensus on strengthening communication and promoting deeper cooperation in relevant projects.

Chen conveyed Wen's greetings to Tshisekedi and congratulated him on his re-election. He also briefed the president on CNMC's operations and major projects in the DRC, expressing the company's interest in exploring more opportunities for cooperation.

Chen emphasized CNMC's commitment to creating more local jobs, contributing more significantly to the DRC's social and economic development, and further boosting the friendship between China and the DRC.

Tshisekedi praised CNMC for its long-standing contributions to the DRC and stated his willingness to offer necessary support and assistance for CNMHK in projects that serve the interests of both sides.

He expressed the hope that both parties would further enhance pragmatic cooperation to jointly advance the development of the DRC's mining sector.

The president also extended an invitation to Chen and Shao to visit Kinshasa, the capital city of the DRC, for more in-depth discussions on future collaboration. He specially designated the director of the office of the president of the DRC to coordinate the follow-up meetings and ensure that cooperation progresses smoothly and efficiently.

Guided by the principle of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith and the principle of pursuing the greater good and shared interests, CNMC has consistently operated in compliance with local laws and regulations since entering the DRC and become a role model for fulfilling corporate social responsibilities.

It has directly benefited local employment by training a large number of skilled technical workers, and played an active role in facilitating the DRC's industrialization process and economic development.

In addition, CNMC has implemented a series of "small yet smart" livelihood programs that are both beneficial and practical, striving to address urgent local needs, improve living conditions, and enhance the well-being of local residents.

Looking ahead, CNMC is ready to continue to carry forward and promote the traditional friendship between China and Africa, fulfill its responsibilities, and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, contributing through concrete actions to the building of an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.
